The company is generally known as Visa and is a joint venture of 21'000 financial institutions which are involved in issuing and marketing Visa products such as credit and debit cards. The world wide competitor of visa is mastercard.

All the visa cards can be classified into two categories; visa credit cards and visa debit cards.

Most versions of the cards comprise a variety of features such as extended warranties and theft indemnity on items bought with the card, Damage waiver on cars rented with the card, and accident insurance during travel bought with the card.

Visa Debit cards:
Debit cards are cards which are backed up by the card holder's account and when a payment is made, it is deducted from his account.

Visa Credit cards:
Credit cards are credit instrument which offer credit to the card holder.

Prepaid visa cards:
Prepaid visa cards are backed up by cash accounts which do not have any writing privileges.

Visa controls the PLUS ATM system and the Interlink EFTPOS network, which assists the "debit" procedure used with debit cards and prepaid cards. Visa's corporate structure, is regionally de-centralized, which is unique in the payment scheme industry.

American Visa:
American Visa is another card type which has become popular over the years. As American Visa has become famous and is being used by mane today, therefore it offers various security features in order to keep its consumers secure from theft. American Visa uses security encryption to keep the information of a card holder secured.

Visa gift cards:
Visa gift card is a prepaid card accepted widely. It is accepted at every location where visa debit cards are recognized including online merchants and retails stores. As it is a prepaid card by nature, therefore the spending limit is restricted to the amount of money placed on the card. Visa gift cards are perfect for holidays, weddings, birthdays and other gift giving occasions. The card holder can use his visa gift card to purchase whatever he wants and whenever he wants.

A prepaid Visa card is a payment instrument. The card holder places a certain amount of money on the card out of which he can make payments. The difference between prepaid cards and debit is that in debit cards the person can make payments as much as the amount in his bank account. However, in prepaid visa card the person is limited to the amount he has actually placed on the card.

To encourage the consumers to use the credit and debit cards more often, Visa introduced a visa rewards scheme. According to this scheme, a card holder earns points whenever he uses his Visa cards then these points can be redeemed in exchange of rewards.

A secured visa card is a type of credit card which is secured by a credit deposit account owned by the card holder.
